What are waste bans?

“Waste bans” are restrictions on the disposal, transfer for disposal and contracting for disposal of certain hazardous and recyclable items at solid waste facilities in Massachusetts.

Common Household Trash/Kitchen Waste

This category of waste, will be accepted into the Composting Plant at the Landfill.  This waste must be in clear plastic bags, except in the case of commercial establishments with large trash containers provided and emptied by a commercial waste hauler.  The following waste falls into this category.

1. What are the “Waste Bans”?

A. The “Waste Bans” are prohibitions on the disposal, transfer for disposal, or contracting for disposal of certain hazardous and recyclable items at solid waste facilities in Massachusetts. The waste bans are located in the state’s solid waste facility management regulations at 310 CMR 19.017. PUBLIC NOTICE

Please be advised that at a Public Hearing held on August 16, 2006, the Board of Selectmen approved increases of landfill fees and “hard-to-handle” solid waste fees as noted below.
